Frequently asked questions
How do I transfer files from the old Economics network to the PWF?
Files that were stored last year on the F: drive of the Economics Faculty
network, can still be seen from a PWF workstation, and can be copied to your
PWF filespace so that you can continue to use them. Please follow the instructions
below:
Login to a PWF machine
Click on Start > run and type cmd in the box and click
ok
Type one of the following commands
net use * \\131.111.165.103\user if
you are an undergraduate or MPhil student
net use * \\131.111.165.103\user1 if you are a PhD student
After a pause you will be asked for your username and password on the Economics
system.
When this has been accepted you will be told which drive letter has been
connected (usually T:). You can then use my computer to see the
files on T: There should be a folder with the same name as your username, usually
in a subfolder of 2006, 2007 or 2008 (if you are an undergraduate
or MPhil) or
PHD. You can copy the files to your "My Documents" folder on
your desktop.
When you are finished copying files, you can logout in the usual way.
