ECONOMICSAlumni

Welcome

We are in the process of preparing the fourth edition of Cambridge Economics, the Faculty's alumni magazine, which will be published in September 2011. The 2010 edition is available online, with articles by some very distinguished alumni. In the spotlight, Alan Beattie shares his insights as Financial Times' International Economy Editor and Ken Arrow shares his recollections as a visitor to the Faculty during 1963-64. We also have Bill Janeway's take on the financial crisis plus alumni Ravi Kanbur and Denis Novy share their Cambridge Economics experiences.

Faculty of Economics Alumni Weekend Event

Back by popular demand, Dr Allan McRobie will demonstrate the Phillips Machine as part of the University of Cambridge 2011 Alumni Weekend. First unveiled by its creator, Bill Phillips, in 1949, the Phillips Machine is a hydraulic model of income flow in the national economy and a predecessor to the modern computer. The demonstration is a rare and entertaining opportunity to take part in a practical demonstration of the economy without aid of Powerpoint. The event is scheduled for 23 September 2011 at 3:00 pm; please see the Alumni Weekend site for information on how to register for the event.
