The Faculty of Economics in Cambridge has a number of Postdoctoral Research Fellowships available for candidates who have recently been awarded a doctoral degree or expect to receive their degree in any of the related Research themes stated below by September 2015.

The Fellowships will be based at the Cambridge-INET Institute. Cambridge-INET was created to facilitate critical enquiry and broaden and accelerate the development of economic thinking that can lead to solutions for great challenges. Cambridge-INET is structured around research themes. Applications are solicited pertaining to the following two themes

  • Information, uncertainty and incentives
  • Empirical Analysis of Financial Markets

The role holder would possess some research experience with sufficient breadth/depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. He/she will be expected to continually update knowledge in the specialist area and engage in continuous professional development. The successful candidate should also have experience in managing their own workload, have planning skills and the ability of communicating effectively.

Applicants must indicate their research areas for one of the above themes for which they would like to be considered. We are seeking applicants with outstanding research potential who can develop their own research agendas within the two themes of research whilst participating in independent research in collaboration with members of the Faculty and Cambridge-INET. Applications are invited from individuals who have a clear indication of ability to conduct research at the highest international level with the expectation of presenting their research to Cambridge-INET with a view to future publications in world leading journals.

The funding for the fellowships ends on 31st July 2017 with possibility of renewal. Successful candidates who have not yet received their PhD by September 2015 will be employed on University Grade 5 for Research Assistants starting at £24,775 to £27,864 per annum and once awarded their PhD the salary will be upgraded to Grade 7 for Research Associates (Fellowships), starting at £28,695 to £37,394 per annum. Fellows would also have the possibility of joining a college.
