Institutions
and Economic
Development
Dr. Toke Aidt.
The purpose of these lectures is to provide a selective
introduction
to the newly emerging field of political institutions and development.
I will focus on three major themes: i) macro-development literature on
the importance of institutions for development; ii) theories of the
economic origins of institutions and iii) corruption and institutional
failure. The lecture will assume familiarity with basic econometrics
and microeconomic theory but will focus on applications rather than on
theory.
The course
outline
is available below and lecture
notes will be made available as we go along.
