Report: Contribution to Strategy Review of European Central Bank

Dr. Petra Geraats's contribution to the strategy review of the European Central Bank (ECB) has been published in a report by the Institute for Monetary and Financial Stability (IMFS) in Frankfurt. Dr. Geraats recommends significant improvements to the ECB's monetary policy transparency and a much needed update of its monetary policy strategy to incorporate major changes in its de facto monetary policy framework since the global financial crisis, including its monetary policy measures.

The IMFS report contains the written contributions of several eminent economists and former central bankers, as well as a summary of their invited presentations and discussions at the conference "The ECB and Its Watchers" on 30 September 2020 in Frankfurt.

The conference was one of the listening events with academics that is part of the ECB's review of its monetary policy strategy, which the ECB launched on 23 January 2020.

The IMFS report "Contributions to the Strategy Review of the European Central Bank" is edited by Volker Wieland and also includes contributions by Claudio Borio, Jordi Galí, Otmar Issing, Christian Noyer, Athanasios Orphanides, Lucrezia Reichlin and John Taylor.
