Eric Maskin and Jonathan Adair, Baron Turner of Ecchinswell
Receive Honorary Degree from Cambridge

The Faculty is pleased to announce that the title of the degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa will conferred on Eric Maskin on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 and that the title of the degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa will be conferred on Jonathan Adair, Baron Turner of Ecchinswell.

Eric is already an honorary Fellow of St John’s College and of Jesus College, and formerly Louis Berkman Professor of Economics, Harvard University and Director of the Advanced School in Economics at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was awarded the Nobel Laureate in 2007.

Jonathan Adair, Baron Turner of Ecchinswell, B.A., Hon. F.R.S., Hon. F.R.S.E. attended Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he took a double first in History and Economics, before embarking on a career in business, academia and in public service. He is former Chairman of the Financial Services Authority as well as the former Director-General of the Confederation of British Industry. He served as the chair for the influential Pensions Commission and the Committee on Climate Change and is a Honorary Fellow of Gonville and Caius College.
