Microeconomics II

This course will provide an advanced treatment of central topics in economic theory. The topics to be covered are:

1. Mechanism design theory with applications, including auctions and contracts.

2. General equilibrium theory and welfare economics.

The aim of the course is to provide a rigorous training in these central topics. The part on mechanism design is aimed at enabling students to understand the limitations on market design imposed by incentive constraints and to identify when institutions are optimal and/or efficient.
