Why economics?

“As Alfred Marshall once described, economics is 'cool-headed, but warm-hearted'. Over the history of human beings, economists have been addressing big and humane questions with insightful observation, rich data, wise modeling, and rigorous statistical inference. And the idea that those developments can be a strong force for creating a richer and fairer society excites me.”
