Frank was originally appointed to a University Lectureship here and Fellowship at Churchill College in 1960 after a Readership at Birmingham. He left Cambridge in 1967 to take up a Chair at the London School of Economics returning to Cambridge to a Chair in 1972 and Professorial Fellowship at Churchill College becoming a Pensioner Fellow on his retirement in 1992. He was then appointed as Professore Ordinario at the University of Siena where he directed the doctoral programme in economics. While here Frank played a leading role in the Faculty serving as Chair of the Faculty for a number of years in the late 80s and early 90s. Frank initiated the famous (and notorious) “Quaker” Rese arch Seminars in Microeconomics, Churchill Economic Theory Seminars and Churchill Lectures in Economics which sadly are also no more. Frank was a Fellow of the British Academy and the Econometric Society and a member of the National Academy of Sciences, past President of the Econometric Society as well as a recipient of many honorary degrees.
