US-China Trade War 

Dr. Meredith Crowley gave two interviews about the ongoing US-China trade war. The first was the lead story for the BBC World Service - World Update "Trump imposes tariffs on China" and the second for BBC World News - TV Impact, "Will the US and China reach a deal?". She was also quoted in the article "Who loses out in the US-China trade war?", featured on the BBC website.

Symposium on World Trade - Brexit Panel 

Dr. Meredith Crowley will be speaking on a panel at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute's (MSRI) Symposium on World Trade at the British Academy on 23rd May 2019. Dr. Crowley will be taking part in the "Brexit and the United Kingdom’s Future Trade Relationships in the Global Economy" panel discussion. The panel will also feature John Van Reenen (MIT), Jagjit Chadha (NIESR) and Thomas Sampson (LSE).

Sticking Points in Brexit Talks 

Dr. Meredith Crowley took part in a teleconference, "What's Next for Brexit?" hosted by the Pacific Council on International Policy, the leading think tank on international policy on the West Coast of the US. Brexit Uncertainty 

Oliver Exton (PhD student) will present his research on "Brexit uncertainty", at the Royal Economic Society Annual Conference on Wednesday 17th April 2019. His talk will be based on the paper "Renegotiation of Trade Agreements and Firm Exporting Decisions: Evidence from the Impact of Brexit on UK Exports" (joint with Dr. Meredith Crowley and Lu Han). The Sunday Times also published an article that summarised this research, "The trade deficit soars in a terrible time for exporters (you will need a Times account to read the article)."

The Design of Trade Agreements 

Dr. Meredith Crowley spoke at the World Trade Organization's 'Updating Trade Cooperation: An Economic View' event, in Geneva on the 11th of December 2018. Dr. Crowley gave her presentation on 'Updating Economic Cooperation: Rethinking exibility tools in light of modern evidence' and you can watch her remarks on the WTO website (starts at 2 hours 22 mins). In her remarks Dr. Crowley made reference to two of her Cambridge Working Papers in Economics papers, "Invoicing and Pricing-to-Market - A Study of Price and Markup Elasticities of UK Exporters" and "Markups and Markets: A New Empirical Framework and Evidence on Exporters from China".
