Applications are now open for the 2022-23 academic year.

Applicants are referred to the relevant sections of the University's Postgraduate Admissions website and How to apply pages.

You MUST submit the supporting documents listed below electronically with your online application (please follow the Postgraduate Admissions website guidelines on how to submit supporting documents):

  • Two academic references (please check University guidelines ). You should use referees who are familiar with your academic background and achievements. They should be able to place you relative to your peer group and also offer an assessment of your suitability for a taught master's degree with a high level of technical content. For example an undergraduate tutor or dissertation supervisor would be ideal. Course lecturers are significantly less likely to be able to provide useful detail on a candidate who has merely attended their lectures and so should only be used as referees if they have gone beyond such involvement. If you wish to provide an additional reference, please email us at

Note: It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that their referees submit their references by the appropriate deadline. Failure to do so will result in the automatic withdrawal of the application.

  • Full or interim official transcript. If these are in a language other than English, a formal certified translation into English is required. Applicants who took part in Exchange Programmes MUST provide the grades achieved either by uploading the separate Transcript or ensuring that all grades are included in the main one.
  • GRE General Test scores (if applicable). Please see more information about GREs here. Applicants are required to upload a copy of their GRE test scores or if they have not yet taken the test a document to show that they have registered to take the test.  GRE scores must be received by the appropriate deadline in order for the application to be considered.

Note: Failure to do upload a GRE Test (if required) will result in the automatic withdrawal of the application.

  • Evidence of proficiency in the English language (please refer to the University Postgraduate Admissions website for further details on language conditions). The Faculty of Economics will not normally ask you to have a valid English Test in order to submit an application, however, this might be a requirement at a later stage, should you receive a conditional offer.
  • Provide details of mathematics background to show that you meet the entry requirements outlined on the Faculty's web page. The template that MUST be used can be downloaded here.
  • CV/Resume
  • Scholarship award letter (if applicable). This is not a requirement if financial support is yet to be confirmed.

The Faculty of Economics reserves the right not to consider applications which are not complete by the due date, or to consider them in their incomplete state, at its discretion.

When Will I Receive a Decision?

Applications are considered as a gathered field, after the deadline and decisions are expected to be sent out in February/March.

Borderline applications are held until all other applications have been assessed. Students in this category will be re-considered and informed of a final decision between May and early July.
