Eurozone Shocks Impact Outside the Eurozone 

New research by Professor Giancarlo Corsetti suggests that monetary and economic shocks in the Eurozone have a significant impact in neighbouring countries outside the zone. But this impact is no different in countries which peg their currency to the euro, than in countries with a flexible exchange rate, such as the UK.

Monetary Networks - Project 

Dr Edoardo Gallo has been awarded a grant by the International Foundation for Research in Experimental Economics (IFREE) for a project on "Monetary networks". The project is led by Dr. Gallo as principal investigator (PI) in collaboration with Professor Maria Bigoni (University of Bologna) and Professor Gabriele Camera (Chapman University).

Banks Do Not Create Money Out Of Thin Air 

In recent years, some have claimed that banks create money ‘ex nihilo’. In the most read column this month for VoXEU "Banks Do Not Create Money Out Of Thin Air", Dr. Pontus Rendahl and (PhD Student) Lukas B. Freund explain that banks do not create money out of thin air, that there are no magic money trees.
