During the first annual Witteveen Lecture, Professor Coen Teulings will speak on the dire macro-economic situation in Europe and the monetary and fiscal policy. Teulings (1958) is the Montague Burton Professor of Industrial Relations at the University of Cambridge. He was former Director of the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis (CPB). He is actively engaged in the debate on the current macroeconomic issues facing the European Union. After his lecture, there is a discussion with the audience.

The Witteveen Lecture is named after Professor Johannes Witteveen, who was the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund during the challenging years 1973-1978. After his retirement, he still contributes to the debate on the macroeconomic situation with publications in, for instance, the Financial Times. Professor Witteveen is an alumnus and an emeritus professor of Erasmus School of Economics. In 2015 Erasmus School of Economics also established the Witteveen Chair in macro and monetary economics.
