Dr Noriko Amano Patiño specialises in Labour Economics and Applied Econometrics, looking particularly at the different dimensions of inequality. Research topics include an examination of the drivers or nutrition inequality within lower income households in the US, the widening gender wage gap and the effect of Affirmative Action on workers' outcomes on the 50th Anniversary of the passage of affirmative action laws designed to reduce discrimination in employment in the US.

Dr Weilong Zhang’s research interests also include Labour Economics as well as Education Economics, Family Economics and Psychology Economics. His recent papers cover topics such as the effect of local and universal minimum wage policies and a paper which finds that personality traits are important determinants of household bargaining weights and of wage offers, which has substantial implications for understanding the sources of gender wage disparities.
