Professor Sriya Iyer has been elected to The Royal Economic Society Council from 2022-2027. Her appointment, along with the other five successful candidates, was ratified at the Society's Annual General Meeting on the 25th-27th of May 2022.

A Professor of Economics at the University of Cambridge, and a Fellow of St Catharine's College, she says

“I hope I can do good things for the RES and Cambridge Economics over the next 5 years. Thank you so much to all members for voting in the RES Council elections, and to those who voted for me for your help and support. Following in the footsteps of other Cambridge economists past and present, I am honoured and deeply grateful to have the chance to serve, and will look forward to working with colleagues at the RES in the years to come.”

The Royal Economic Society promotes the study of economic science, and has over 6,000 members worldwide. It is one of the oldest economic associations in the world, founded as the British Economic Association in 1890.

The Society's two peer-reviewed journals - The Economic Journal and The Econometrics Journal contain high quality papers from an international authorship. Increasingly the Society is focussed on improving the public understanding of economics through engagement with schools and the wider public.
